Alleged N21bn Fraud: Court Frees Ex chief of Air Staff Amosun and Two others

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday have viod the charge leveled against former chief of Air Staff.Air Marshal Adesola Amosun Nunayon(RTD)

Justice Aneke said that EFCC lacks power to investigate the serving of of the Nigerian Army. The judge relied on Jafaru VS the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, where Appeal Court has said that a serving officer of a Nigerian Armed forces can not be investigated because the military have Marshall Court to try their officers.

The judge also set Air Vice Marshal Jacob Bola Adigun (RTD) and Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni Olugbenga.

The EFCC had accused the trio of conspiring amongst themselves to convert the total sum of N21,467,634,707.43(Twenty One Billion, Four Hundred and Sixty-seven Million, Six Hundred and Thirty Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seven Naira, Forty-three Kobo), property of the Nigerian Air Force
Which is criminal breach of trust, and is an offence contrary to section 18(a) of the Money Laundering ( Prohibition) Act, 2011( as amended) and punishable under section 15(3) of the same Act.
