Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Friday held a closed-door meeting with Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Senator Rufai Hanga at his office in Abuja, further fueling speculation over the lawmaker’s political future.
The meeting comes amid growing reports that Senator Hanga is considering defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) following alleged dissatisfaction within the NDC.
The senator is said to be weighing his options after reportedly missing out on the Kano Central Senatorial ticket, the party’s deputy governorship slot, and other key appointments allegedly influenced by the party’s leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The development follows Hanga’s meeting earlier this week with APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside a delegation of Kano State APC executive members, who visited him at his residence.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Governor Yusuf nor Senator Hanga has disclosed the purpose or outcome of their latest meeting, leaving political observers to continue speculating about its implications ahead of the 2027 elections.
