Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he would seek the intervention of United States President Donald Trump if anything goes wrong during the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
Davido made the remarks during a live session with comedian Carter Efe, where he stressed the need for the August 15 election to be free, fair and credible.
The singer said he would not remain silent if the electoral process was compromised, warning that he would draw international attention to any alleged irregularities.
“I will involve Trump if anything goes wrong in the Osun election,” Davido said.
The singer’s comments come ahead of the August 15 governorship poll, in which his uncle and incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election for a second term.
Davido has been actively campaigning for the governor and has repeatedly called on relevant authorities to ensure that the election is conducted transparently and reflects the will of the people.
His latest warning adds an international dimension to the political contest, as stakeholders intensify preparations for the closely watched governorship election.
