Dangote Refinery Raises Petrol Price by N100 per Liter Nationwide

0

Abuja, Nigeria – Dangote Refinery has announced a N100 increase in the retail price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across Nigeria. The new gantry price is now N799 per liter, while the retail price stands at N839 per liter, up from N699 and N739 per liter respectively since December 2025.

In a statement on Monday, the $20 billion refinery said the price adjustment reflects current market alignments, adding that daily supply to the domestic market remains around 50 million liters. Distribution and evacuation operations continue normally, according to Dangote Petroleum Refinery CEO, David Bird.

The refinery had previously maintained a retail price of N739 per liter to discourage imports, as confirmed by Aliko Dangote last December, when he stated, “We don’t want people to sell petrol for more than N740 nationwide.”

The recent price hike comes amid reports that Dangote Refinery resorted to gasoline imports to boost capacity during downtime of its Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC), according to Kpler.

As of Monday night, retail filling stations, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), were selling petrol between N805 and N830 per liter. Analysts warn that Dangote’s price adjustment could trigger a broader hike across the country’s downstream sector.
