Dangote Refinery Opens Hotline to Expose Fuel Price Violations at MRS Stations

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has launched a nationwide hotline to enable Nigerians report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.

The dedicated hotline, 0800 123 5264, is now active across the country and allows consumers to promptly report pricing violations at over 2,000 MRS filling stations nationwide. The move reinforces the refinery’s commitment to transparency, affordability and consumer protection in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

The initiative follows Dangote Refinery’s recent commencement of nationwide PMS distribution at ₦739 per litre, a strategic intervention aimed at stabilising fuel prices and easing the financial burden on Nigerians, particularly during the festive season.

In a statement, the refinery urged Nigerians to take advantage of the price reduction and resist buying fuel at inflated rates.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid purchasing PMS at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre. Any MRS station selling above this price should be reported immediately via our hotline. Together, we can ensure the benefits of this price reduction reach every consumer,” the statement said.

Dangote Refinery also reaffirmed its capacity to sustain steady supply, noting that it currently guarantees a daily output of 50 million litres of PMS, sufficient to meet national demand. It warned against any attempt by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply in response to the price reduction.

The refinery called on relevant regulatory agencies to remain alert and take decisive action against such practices, describing them as unpatriotic and harmful to national economic interests.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or frustrate recent price reductions is unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to act firmly against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.

By refining fuel locally at scale, Dangote Refinery is significantly reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the Naira and strengthening the country’s energy security.

Industry observers say the hotline initiative marks a major step toward enforcing fair pricing, protecting consumers and ensuring that the gains of domestic refining are fully felt by Nigerians.
