The Federal Government has warned developers along the Lagos shoreline to regularise their projects or face revocation and possible demolition. This was announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development following an inspection tour of the Lagos Lagoon Estates and other shoreline areas on Thursday.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, alongside key ministry officials, expressed concern over the rise of unauthorised land reclamation and construction on the lagoon’s shoreline. These developments have occurred without the necessary approvals or documentation from the Federal Government.
Dangiwa emphasized the need for proper regulation, highlighting a joint effort with the Lagos State Government to address the issue. Developers have been given a one-month deadline to comply, with the threat of demolition for non-compliance. The ministry is focused on documenting and regulating shoreline properties as part of national asset management.
