‘APC Fears ADC Because It Knows It Will Lose in 2027’ — Party Chieftain Fires Back

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogba Oghenevewogaga, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is afraid of the growing strength of the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on News Central’s Breakfast Central on Friday, Oghenevewogaga claimed that the APC was behind the internal challenges currently facing the ADC, insisting that the party would emerge stronger under the leadership of its Interim National Chairman, David Mark, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

According to him, the ADC has become the country’s most formidable opposition platform and poses a serious threat to the APC’s chances in the next presidential election.

“Whatever you see the ADC going through is being sponsored by the APC, and we the Nigerian people will not allow it. The leadership of David Mark will not allow it. The ADC is here to stay for Nigerians and, as a matter of fact, we are the only opposition in Nigeria, and that is what the APC is afraid of,” he said.

He further claimed that widespread public dissatisfaction with the current administration would work in the ADC’s favour in 2027.

“The APC is afraid of the ADC because they know that if we go into the 2027 general election, they will be defeated. Nigerians are angry; they need an alternative, and the ADC is here,” he added.

Oghenevewogaga also criticised remarks attributed to First Lady Remi Tinubu regarding plans to empower Nigerians through support for small-scale businesses such as akara and kulikuli production.

He argued that such initiatives reflect what he described as the APC-led government’s failure to create opportunities capable of lifting Nigerians out of poverty.

Drawing a comparison with the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s philosophy on social mobility, the ADC chieftain maintained that the opposition party would pursue policies aimed at expanding economic and educational opportunities rather than encouraging what he described as subsistence livelihoods.

He also accused the APC of implementing policies that have worsened hardship, insecurity and hunger across the country, while expressing confidence that the ADC would continue to gain momentum ahead of the 2027 elections under the leadership of David Mark and Atiku Abubakar.

The APC has not responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
