Pastor Adeboye makes first appearance after son’s death

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has affirmed that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will retain her status as an ordained pastor in the church, dismissing calls for her removal.

Adeboye made the clarification during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service, where he addressed concerns surrounding the First Lady’s pastoral role amid her husband’s political position.

According to him, Tinubu was ordained as an Assistant Pastor in RCCG over a decade ago, well before Bola Ahmed Tinubu began his presidential ambition. He emphasized that her ordination followed all laid-down procedures and remains valid.

“She was properly ordained many years ago, long before the political journey of her husband to the presidency began,” Adeboye stated.

The cleric stressed that the church operates strictly within its spiritual and administrative framework and would not be swayed by political pressure or public opinion in making internal decisions.

He further noted that the First Lady has not breached any doctrine or guideline of the church and continues to remain in good standing, actively serving in her pastoral capacity.

Adeboye’s remarks come amid growing public discourse over the intersection of religious roles and political office, with RCCG maintaining its stance on institutional independence.
