Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has attributed the criticism she receives on social media to her open support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The actress made this known during an appearance on comedian Isbae U’s podcast, Curiosity Made Me Ask, where she spoke about the reactions to her political stance and her decision to remain loyal to the president.
Badmus said she believes her support for Tinubu is the major reason some Nigerians target her online, adding that she remains unwavering despite the backlash.
“The only reason they come at me is just that I support the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And whether you like it or not, on that mandate, me, Eniola Badmus, I am still standing,” she said.
The actress also defended the right of Nigerians to support politicians of their choice, stressing that democracy allows individuals to make independent political decisions without being condemned for their preferences.
According to her, she does not criticise people for supporting candidates different from the one she believes in.
“Everybody has the right to do whatever they want. It’s called democracy. Follow whoever you want to follow; I don’t criticise anyone for following whoever,” she added.
Badmus was among the prominent Nigerian entertainers who publicly supported Tinubu during the build-up to the 2023 general elections.
She has continued to express her support for the president despite criticism from some Nigerians over her political allegiance.
