American rapper Nicki Minaj has followed Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi on X, shortly after reposting his statement on the reported killings and abductions in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The development has attracted attention among Nigerians and social media users, particularly following Minaj’s decision to amplify Obi’s concerns over the worsening security situation.
In the statement reposted by Minaj, Obi condemned reports of killings and the continued abduction of Nigerians, describing the situation as a disturbing devaluation of human life.
He called on the government to intensify efforts against criminal networks through intelligence-led operations, stronger coordination among security agencies, improved equipment, effective border protection and sustained action against perpetrators.
Obi also warned against normalising kidnapping, ransom demands, criminal levies and the killing of innocent citizens, stressing that every Nigerian life matters and that affected communities deserve protection.
Minaj’s repost has since generated reactions across social media, with users discussing the international attention drawn to the security situation in Niger State. However, her repost alone does not establish her broader position on Nigerian politics beyond her decision to share Obi’s message.
The development comes as concerns continue over the reported attacks and abductions in Borgu, with authorities and security agencies facing calls to establish the exact number of victims and secure the release of those still missing.
