The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Hon. Salihu-Yakubu Danladi, has assured voters in the Kwara Central Senatorial District that he would not disappoint them if elected governor in the 2027 governorship election.
Danladi, who is also the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, gave the assurance during the APC’s statewide “Thank You” tour of the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
The weekend tour, which commenced in Afon, the headquarters of Asa Local Government Area, also took the delegation to Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The delegation, led by Danladi, was received in both local government areas by traditional rulers, government officials, religious leaders and party stakeholders.
Addressing APC supporters, Danladi expressed appreciation to traditional and religious leaders as well as party stakeholders for their continued support, saying their backing would contribute to the party’s success in the 2027 election.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as efforts to stabilise the country, expressing confidence that the President would secure a second term in office.
“The President has done a lot and, by His grace, the second term is assured for continuity of progress and development,” Danladi said.
Speaking to party supporters in Ilorin West, he urged them to remain confident in the APC and assured them that the party would reciprocate their support with continued development.
“We are here to thank the people of Ilorin West. That is the purpose of coming here today. We are here to reassure you that, by His grace, as you stand for APC, we are going to win.
“Relax your mind. Let campaign start. In this hall are youth, women and elders. We have who is who in Ilorin West Local Government here. We thank you for standing by us.
“I want to reassure you that you will not be disappointed as far as APC is concerned. You already know what your son, His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has done for Ilorin West and Kwara State in general. What he is doing will never stop. You will not be disappointed for having SYD,” he said.
At Afon, the member of the House of Representatives and APC candidate for the Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Hon. Mukhtar Tolani Shagaya, expressed confidence that the party’s candidates would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections.
Shagaya said Kwarans would not want to return to what he described as the past, insisting that the people would support continuity.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority and indigene of Asa, Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, said Governor AbdulRazaq’s achievements would not have been possible without the support of the legislative arm of government.
Alakawa described Danladi as a grassroots politician with significant electoral value and commended him for providing the governor with the legislative backing required to implement his administration’s programmes.
The Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, said Asa Local Government had benefited significantly from the state government’s programmes, particularly in education, road infrastructure, healthcare and social investment.
An APC elder in Asa, Alhaji Issa Amasa, who vouched for Danladi’s integrity, humility and competence, urged the governorship candidate to remain accessible to the people if elected.
In Ilorin West, Engr. Jimoh Ajani Olarenwaju, an aide to Senator Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe, called on aggrieved APC members to embrace peace and work collectively for the success of the party.
Olarenwaju said loyalty, dedication and commitment remained important attributes in party politics, urging members to support candidates who emerged from the party’s primary elections.
“I believe Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has performed exceedingly well.
“Party politics is about dedication, commitment and absolute loyalty to the leadership of the party. That is what we believe an average politician should possess. In APC, we accept all our candidates as produced from the primaries,” he said.
Also speaking on behalf of the Emir of Ilorin, the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Dr. Usman Abubakar Atolagbe Jos, described the APC delegation’s visit as a thoughtful gesture and a sign of respect for the traditional institution.
He said the Emir of Ilorin had directed traditional title holders in Ilorin West to receive the delegation and prayed for the success of the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
In Asa, the District Head of Balah, Alhaji Kolapo Abdulkadir, led other district heads in receiving the APC delegation and prayed for Danladi and other APC candidates to succeed at the polls.
He also pledged overwhelming support for the party’s candidates.
