Tinubu Using Road Projects to Fight Insecurity — Umahi

0

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said the administration of President Bola Tinubu is strategically deploying road construction and rehabilitation projects as part of its broader efforts to combat insecurity across Nigeria.

Umahi made the remarks during the official commencement of road projects at Muna City Gate on the Maiduguri–Dikwa–Gamboru highway in Borno State over the weekend.

According to the minister, the highway projects are designed not only to improve transportation and stimulate economic activities but also to enhance military operations by providing easier access to security flashpoints, particularly in the North-East.

He explained that the roads would reconnect communities affected by years of insurgency, facilitate cross-border trade with Chad and Cameroon, and strengthen logistics for security agencies operating in the region.

“These road infrastructure projects are part of President Tinubu’s broader strategy to tackle insecurity,” Umahi said.

“When these projects are completed, the people of the North-East will benefit because they provide vital links to Chad and Cameroon.

“But beyond the economic gains, the key objective is to ensure our military has the road network needed to effectively combat whatever remains of the insurgency.”

The minister emphasized that improved infrastructure would play a critical role in achieving the Federal Government’s security objectives while accelerating regional development and economic recovery in the North-East.
