The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has directed all intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj to make an initial deposit of N7.5 million as preparations for the pilgrimage gather momentum.
The board’s Director-General, Alhaji Ahmed Umar, announced the directive during a meeting with the board’s zonal officers in Dutse. The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the board’s spokesperson, Habibu Yarima.
According to Umar, the decision is part of the board’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated Hajj exercise. He noted that only 87 days remain before the September deadline set by the National Hajj and Umrah Commission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Hajj preparations.
He urged the zonal officers to remain vigilant, ensure the transparent allocation of Hajj seats, and intensify public sensitisation to encourage intending pilgrims to complete their payments within the stipulated timeframe.
The Director-General also expressed appreciation to Governor Umar Namadi for his continued support and commitment to the activities of the Pilgrims Welfare Board.
