The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has declared that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be “massively defeated” in the 2027 general elections.
Dickson made the statement on Sunday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, while discussing the political landscape ahead of next year’s elections and the readiness of the NDC.
Expressing confidence in his party’s chances, Dickson said the current administration has failed to meet the expectations and aspirations of many Nigerians.
“As leader of the NDC, and as a Nigerian who knows the feelings and the yearnings of Nigerians, who also knows that their aspirations have not been met, we believe that the APC government, APC as a party and President Tinubu will be defeated massively,” he said.
He, however, stressed that the outcome of the election would ultimately be determined by Nigerians, urging authorities to ensure a free and transparent democratic process.
According to him, the political space must not be restricted through what he described as “contrived legal shenanigans” or judicial actions aimed at legitimising outcomes that are “morally reprehensible.”
Dickson also appealed to the leadership of Nigeria’s judiciary to remain impartial and safeguard the nation’s democracy.
“My plea to the leadership of Nigeria’s judiciary, which is the pride of our nation and the one that holds the balance, while we politicians can do the political struggle and INEC, is to please don’t allow desperate politicians to truncate our democracy,” he stated.
