Makinde Imposes Night-Time Motorcycle Ban as Oyo Intensifies Fight Against Insecurity

Ibadan, Oyo State – Governor Seyi Makinde has ordered a restriction on motorcycle operations across Oyo State between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. as part of efforts to tackle insecurity and strengthen ongoing security operations.

The governor announced the directive through an Executive Order issued on Friday, stating that the state government remains committed to securing the safe return of the abducted teachers and schoolchildren currently being held by kidnappers.

Makinde said his administration would not relent until all the victims regain their freedom, describing each day spent in captivity as a painful experience for their families and the people of Oyo State.

He assured residents that security agencies and relevant authorities are working tirelessly around the clock to ensure the victims are rescued safely.

According to the governor, the abduction remains one of the most difficult challenges confronting his administration, but he stressed that the affected teachers and pupils have neither been forgotten nor abandoned.

“We may not be able to disclose every step being taken because of the sensitive nature of the operations involved, but I ask our people not to mistake our silence for inaction. A great deal of work is being done behind the scenes,” Makinde stated.

The governor urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and comply with the new restriction, which he said is aimed at enhancing public safety and curbing criminal activities often carried out under the cover of darkness.

The night-time motorcycle ban takes immediate effect as the state government intensifies efforts to restore security and ensure the safe return of all kidnapped victims.
