The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared Alhaji Mustafa Sule-Lamido, son of former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, as its candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Jigawa State.
Announcing the result of the party’s primary election on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Mr. Isa Ahmed, said Mustafa Sule-Lamido emerged as the party’s flag bearer unopposed, describing him as the sole aspirant in the contest.
Ahmed noted that the process leading to his emergence was conducted in line with the constitution and guidelines of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Sule-Lamido expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the confidence reposed in him.
He recalled that the party had earlier entrusted him with the same responsibility during the 2023 election cycle, stating that although victory was not achieved at the time, the campaign succeeded in building strong support across the state.
“Though we did not secure victory then, we earned the confidence of hundreds of thousands of our people and laid a strong foundation,” he said.
The PDP candidate added that the party would pursue a campaign anchored on unity, hope, reform, and the promise of a better future for the people of Jigawa State.
“The primary is the contest. The general election is the mission. The presidency is the destination,” Sule-Lamido stated.
