A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly, has commended the leadership of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing his role in the Rainbow Coalition as instrumental to the growth and direction of the APC in the state.
George-Kelly made the remarks while congratulating Ogundu Kingsley Chinda on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the coalition ahead of the 2027 Rivers governorship election.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday, George-Kelly said Chinda’s emergence reflected the unity, patriotism, and commitment of members of the APC and the Rainbow Coalition to progressive governance in Rivers State.
The former aspirant disclosed that although he had obtained the party’s nomination form to contest the governorship ticket, he later stepped down in the interest of unity and stability within the coalition.
According to him, the leadership provided by Wike has repositioned the APC in Rivers State by giving the party “direction, structure, and purpose.”
“I wish to express my profound commendation to the leadership and membership of the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State for the wisdom, foresight, and maturity displayed in arriving at this consensus,” he said.
“The process that produced Hon. O.K. Chinda as our standard-bearer is a testament to the coalition’s commitment to fielding only the most capable and experienced hands for the task of governing our beloved state.”
George-Kelly also reaffirmed his loyalty to the coalition and pledged support for Wike’s leadership.
“I wish to also express my unwavering loyalty to the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State as ably and courageously led by the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Nyesom Wike.
“His visionary leadership of the coalition has given direction, structure, and purpose to the APC in Rivers State. I stand firmly behind his leadership, and I encourage all men and women of goodwill in our state to do the same,” he added.
He further pledged full support for Chinda throughout the 2027 electioneering process and called on party members to rally behind the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu.
