Wife of the founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor Peace Ibiyeomie, has stirred conversations online after advising married women to be cautious about forming close friendships with divorced women who are unwilling to reconcile with their former spouses or remarry.
Speaking during a Mother’s Day service at the church in Rivers State, the cleric stressed the importance of surrounding oneself with positive influences, warning that bitterness from failed marriages could negatively affect other homes.
According to her, some divorced and single women publicly downplay the importance of men and marriage while secretly maintaining romantic relationships.
“Do not follow a divorcee as your friend even if she is your sister. Teach her, either she reconciles with her husband or she remarries,” she said.
Pastor Ibiyeomie further claimed that several single women had privately admitted to her that they were still involved with men despite publicly speaking against marriage.
“She will tell you that men are not important but meanwhile she goes behind your back to have affairs with men,” she stated, adding that some women eventually seek remarriage after opening up about their experiences.
The cleric questioned why some women condemn marriage while still engaging in intimate relationships, saying such attitudes often send conflicting messages to others.
She also cautioned divorced women against allowing personal disappointments to influence other marriages negatively.
“That your marriage is broken does not mean you should break another person’s marriage,” she added.
Pastor Ibiyeomie concluded by urging women to be mindful of the company they keep, noting that relationships and associations can either uplift or negatively impact a person’s life and family.
