President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally declared his intention to seek a second term in office after submitting his Presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday.
The nomination forms were submitted at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja by Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of the president.
The development comes days after a member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, picked up the forms for Tinubu at the APC national secretariat following the payment of N100 million to the party.
The forms were presented to Faleke by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, shortly after the party commenced the sale of nomination forms to aspirants seeking its presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu’s submission of the forms officially signals his bid to secure the APC presidential ticket and seek re-election for a second term in 2027.
Speaking during the submission ceremony, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the president’s decision to seek another term as a reflection of confidence in his administration’s performance so far.
The submission ceremony was still ongoing at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja as party leaders and supporters gathered to witness the formal process.
