Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mike Okaka, a dedicated supporter of the Obidient Movement, who passed away in the United States.
In a statement shared via his official X account on Saturday, Obi described Okaka’s death as a painful and shocking loss, extending heartfelt condolences to his family and members of the Obidient community.
“I received with profound sadness the news of the passing of my dear elder brother, Mike Okaka, in the United States,” Obi said. “On behalf of my family and the Obidient family, I extend my deepest condolences and sincerely mourn his loss.”
Obi paid tribute to the late Okaka, highlighting his unwavering dedication to the ideals of good governance and his firm belief in the vision of a better Nigeria.
According to the former governor, Okaka was a committed advocate of the Obidient Movement, whose passion, energy, and contributions played a meaningful role in advancing the collective quest for national progress.
“Mike stood firm in the struggle for a better nation and made significant contributions toward the cause we all cherish,” Obi added.
He prayed for the repose of Okaka’s soul and asked God to grant strength and comfort to his family, loved ones, and all those affected by the loss.
The Obidient Movement, a grassroots political movement that gained prominence during the 2023 general elections, has continued to draw support from Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
