Tinubu’s Administration Transforming FCT Satellite Towns — Wike

0

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that satellite towns across Abuja are witnessing unprecedented development under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, driven by expanded infrastructure and improved social services.

Wike made this known on Wednesday while inspecting ongoing projects across the territory, noting that government interventions now go beyond road construction to include significant upgrades in education, water supply, and healthcare facilities.

According to the minister, rural communities within the FCT are experiencing a new level of attention, with several schools already renovated and furnished to enhance learning conditions.

He further disclosed that major satellite water projects in Bwari, Karu, and Orozo are scheduled for inauguration as part of activities marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

Wike added that the administration is also tackling gaps in the healthcare sector through the rehabilitation of multiple health facilities across the FCT, stressing that the focus is on delivering holistic development rather than concentrating solely on roads.

However, the minister expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work on the road linking the Central Business District to Wuse along the Transit Way N2 Corridor. While acknowledging the quality of the construction, he criticised the contractor for failing to meet agreed timelines and warned against further delays.

He subsequently directed the Federal Capital Development Authority to ensure the contractor speeds up work and delivers the project by the second week of June.

In contrast, Wike commended the contractor handling the N16 Interchange connecting Jahi and Gwarinpa districts for maintaining high standards and showing commitment to timely completion.

He also praised the progress of the road project linking the Body of Benchers, Nile University, and Baze University, describing both the pace and quality of work as satisfactory.

At Tungan Madaki, the minister inspected the road connecting Bill Clinton Drive to Zuba, noting that compensation processes for affected communities are ongoing through relevant government agencies.

Wike reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to accelerating development across all parts of the FCT, particularly in underserved satellite communities.
