A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has advised opposition politicians considering a presidential bid in 2027 Nigerian Presidential Election to reconsider their plans, claiming that the race has effectively been decided.
In a post shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Igbokwe suggested that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s current president, has already secured victory in the upcoming election.
According to him, challenging Tinubu at the polls would amount to an exercise in futility.
“I will advise the PDP, ADC, Labour Party and others not to waste their precious gift of time, hard-earned money, strength, energy and power dreaming about the 2027 presidential election,” he wrote.
“It will be an exercise in futility. PBAT has taken it. Look deep, think deep.”
His remarks come amid growing political discussions ahead of the 2027 contest, with several opposition figures already showing interest in the race.
Among those who have signaled potential presidential ambitions are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, and former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi.
Political activities are expected to intensify in the coming months as parties begin early consultations and coalition talks ahead of the next general election cycle.
