The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed shock and deep sadness over the death of one of its prominent members, Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu, who died at the age of 54.

In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the late Dunkwu as an energetic, selfless, and loyal party stalwart who made significant contributions to the growth and consolidation of the APC in his native Ika Federal Constituency and beyond.

According to the statement, until his death on March 7, 2026, Dunkwu served as Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative) to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

The party noted that he had previously served as Special Adviser on Members’ Affairs to the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Beyond his political engagements, the APC highlighted Dunkwu’s contributions to religion and sports, noting that he was a Knight of Saint Christopher (KSC) and also served as President of the Nigerian Aquatics Federation.

The party said Dunkwu lived a vibrant life marked by service and philanthropy that positively impacted many people within and outside his homeland. It added that his passing has created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

The APC prayed for God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss and to comfort party members in Delta State, particularly in Ika Federal Constituency, and across the country during this period of mourning.
