Popular Nigerian actor, Linc Edochie, has cautioned youths in Northern Nigeria against staging protests in support of Iran following reports of the death of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Reports had indicated that Khamenei was allegedly killed on February 28, 2026, during a joint airstrike carried out by Israel and the United States, a development that has heightened tensions in the Middle East. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory attacks on Israeli and American assets in the region, escalating the conflict.
In response to the situation, pro-Iran demonstrations were reportedly held in some northern states of Nigeria, with protesters expressing solidarity with the Iranian leadership.
Reacting to the development in a video shared on his Facebook page, Edochie urged the protesters to reconsider their actions, warning that such demonstrations could attract unwanted attention from global powers.
He described the unfolding global tensions as potentially catastrophic and suggested that the situation could evolve into what he termed a new form of world war.
“This may not be our direct concern, but what is happening in the world, let us take this matter to God in prayers,” Edochie said.
“Whether it concerns us directly or we try to shy away from it, I’m sorry to say this — a third world war has formally begun. This war may not be fought on conventional terms, but it could become the deadliest the world has ever seen.”
Addressing the protesters specifically, the actor urged them to stay away from the streets, warning that provoking powerful nations could put Nigeria at risk.
“To some of those guys up North protesting over what is happening in Iran, please let us leave the streets. You don’t want to provoke a superpower. If we draw their attention towards us, we’re in trouble. Nigeria cannot stand the fury of these countries,” he added.
Edochie concluded by urging Nigerians to focus on addressing internal challenges and to remain peaceful amid rising global tensions.
