PDP Lawmakers in Osun Affirm Loyalty to Sunday Bisi, Call for End to Illegal Council Occupation

Osogbo, Osun State – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National and State Lawmakers Forum in Osun State has thrown its unequivocal support behind the State Executive Committee led by Mr. Sunday Bisi, describing it as the only recognized leadership of the party in the state.

Speaking after a meeting at LAIM Hotel, Osogbo, the forum’s spokesperson, Senator Lere Oyewumi, emphasized that any other faction lacks constitutional recognition within the PDP.

Oyewumi criticized former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola for “playing a double game,” noting his earlier role in persuading Governor Ademola Adeleke to seek the governorship ticket from the Accord Party amid national-level party crises.

“We, as elected members of the National and State Assembly from Osun, speak for our constituents and party members. The PDP in Osun State is indivisible under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Sunday Bisi,” Oyewumi said.

He reiterated the forum’s collective support for Governor Adeleke ahead of the August 8 governorship election, stressing that any current positions held by Oyinlola’s faction are not endorsed by the lawmakers.

The forum also expressed concern over the continued occupation of local government secretariats by APC officials whose elections were nullified by the courts. Oyewumi described the act as “unlawful” and called on the Federal Government to release pending council funds to the state.

“The withholding of local government allocations is causing avoidable hardship for teachers, nurses, healthcare workers, civil servants, retirees, and traditional institutions. Funds meant for the people must not be politicized or subjected to external interference,” he said.

The lawmakers urged President Bola Tinubu to direct the illegal occupants to vacate the secretariats immediately to prevent potential crises, emphasizing the PDP’s commitment to law and order and the peaceful governance of Osun State.
