The move was approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), in accordance with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025, as amended).

In a statement on Monday, PDP National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong announced the members of the committee, led by Mr. Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow as Chairman. Other members include Chief Ochiobi Fidel Chukwuemeka, Engr. Gladys Okoro, Chief Chijindu Kalu, Samuel Chukwudi Mike, Seth Agomuo, Mrs. Ugo Kalu, Obinna Nwaogwugwu, with Felix Nwagbara serving as Secretary.

The committee is mandated to manage the party’s affairs in Abia State under Section 21(2)(a–b) of the PDP Constitution. Its tenure is capped at 90 days or until a new state executive is elected, whichever comes first.

The PDP stressed that the committee members are expected to discharge their duties strictly in line with the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended).

The party expressed confidence that the caretaker committee will reposition the PDP in Abia State and ensure stability within the chapter.
