2027: Kwankwaso Can Defeat APC If He Fields Strong Candidate in Kano — APC Chieftain

Kano, Nigeria — An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, AbdulMajeed Dan Bilki Kwamanda, has said Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso still possesses enough political strength to significantly disrupt the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, despite his current affiliation with the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Kwamanda said Kwankwaso has a clear political path to respond to what he described as a betrayal by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf. He made the remarks during an interview with DCL Hausa, noting that Kano’s political landscape has reached a point where any candidate with a solid strategy and credibility can win.

According to him, Kwankwaso could even attract support from within the APC if he presents a strong and credible candidate for the governorship.

“If Kwankwaso presents a good candidate, I can assure you that even people within the APC will abandon the party,” Kwamanda said.

He identified Ahmad Garban Bichi as a viable governorship candidate Kwankwaso could field, describing him as someone from a respected family with strong political influence in Kano.

“Ahmad Garban Bichi comes from a respected family. If Kwankwaso fields him, I assure you Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will win the election,” he stated.

Kwamanda also suggested Ibrahim Khalil, a former African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, as a suitable running mate, citing his popularity, education, and broad support base across gender and political lines.

“If he wants a deputy, he can pick Ibrahim Khalil. He is popular, educated, well-connected, and has supporters among both men and women,” he added.

He argued that adopting this political strategy would spell defeat for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the 2027 election.

Commenting on the broader political climate, Kwamanda lamented that Nigerian politics is increasingly driven by personal interests rather than public service. He claimed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf aligned with the APC out of personal considerations, not genuine concern for Kano State and its people.

According to him, the development has left Kwankwaso deeply displeased.

“In all my life, I have never seen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso this angry,” Kwamanda said.
