Washington, D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly criticized the Grammy Awards, calling the ceremony “virtually unwatchable” and accusing host Trevor Noah of making a false and defamatory remark about him.
Posting on his Truth Social account, Trump labeled the Grammys among the “worst” award shows and described broadcaster CBS as “lucky” to have stopped airing what he termed “garbage.” He also compared Noah unfavorably to late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.
The controversy stems from Noah’s reference to Trump and former President Bill Clinton during the awards, in connection with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump vehemently denied ever visiting Epstein’s private island or having any association with him.
“I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close,” Trump wrote, asserting that Noah’s statement was both incorrect and defamatory. He further hinted at possible legal action, describing Noah as a “pathetic” and “talentless” master of ceremonies, and suggested his lawyers may pursue a lawsuit for damages.
Trump also referenced prior legal battles with media figures, noting they had “worked out well” for him, signaling he may follow through with his threat.
