Ganduje’s Corruption Case Still Active Despite Abba Yusuf’s Defection to APC – Kano Govt

Abuja – The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, has clarified that the corruption allegations against former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje remain unresolved, despite Governor Abba Yusuf’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Waiya made the clarification on Thursday while speaking on ARISE Television’s Prime Time programme, stressing that the matter is still before the courts.

Governor Yusuf, who was elected on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), formally resigned from the party last Friday and announced his defection to the APC.

Addressing concerns that the political realignment could affect the case against Ganduje, Waiya said the allegations remain subject to judicial determination.

“As far as the Nigerian legal system is concerned, a person may face allegations, but what matters most is a conviction by a court of law,” he said.

According to him, no court has found Ganduje guilty of the corruption charges leveled against him, adding that the Kano State Government has no intention of interfering with the judicial process.

“The corruption allegations are still before the courts. Kano is evolving, and we are bringing everyone on board. No court of law has ever pronounced Ganduje guilty, and we respect the judicial process,” Waiya stated.
