Ibadan, Nigeria – The Oyo State House of Assembly has indicted a lawmaker elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Ibrahim Shittu, following allegations of misconduct within the legislature.

The indictment was announced during Tuesday’s plenary session of the House.

Shittu, who represents the Saki West State Constituency and is a member of the minority caucus, has reportedly been embroiled in a prolonged dispute within the Assembly. He was recently accused of defaming the Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin.

Following the allegation, the matter was referred to the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges for investigation.

Presenting the committee’s report, its Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, disclosed that both lawmakers appeared before the panel on Thursday, January 22, 2026. He stated that the committee found Shittu culpable, noting that his actions contravened the rules and principles guiding the House.

During the plenary, the Assembly also rejected an apology submitted by the embattled lawmaker.

The matter has now been referred back to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for further action.
