A total of 1,885 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Adamawa State have commenced their orientation training at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Daware, Girei Local Government Area.
The orientation programme officially began on Friday with a formal reception organised by the Adamawa State Government for the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members.
Speaking after administering the oath of allegiance, Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta urged the corps members to use their service year to acquire entrepreneurial and vocational skills that would promote self-reliance after national service.
She noted that the mandatory one-year service is designed to instil discipline, build character and equip young Nigerians with practical skills. According to her, the orientation course also prepares corps members physically and mentally, while encouraging them to identify and develop their individual potentials.
Farauta, who represented Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, currently out of the country, encouraged the corps members to approach their service year with enthusiasm, discipline and determination in order to make meaningful contributions to their host communities.
Earlier in her address, the Adamawa State NYSC Coordinator, Caroline Chinedu, advised the corps members to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations guiding the scheme. She warned that any violation of NYSC bye-laws would attract appropriate disciplinary measures.
The orientation exercise marks the beginning of the one-year national service for the corps members in the state.
