The National Women Leader, Deputy National Women Leader, South-South Women Leader and State Women Leaders of the Labour Party have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Julius Abure–led National Working Committee of the party.
The women leaders made their position known during a virtual meeting convened to review recent developments within the party and to chart a strategic path forward ahead of the 2026 political cycle.
At the meeting, the leaders extensively reviewed the judgment delivered by the Federal High Court on January 21, 2026, which affected the leadership of the party under Barrister Julius Abure. They unanimously resolved that the ruling contained what they described as fundamental errors and agreed that it should be challenged through the appellate process.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the National Women Leader of the Labour Party, Dudu Mamman Manuga, reaffirmed the women’s total loyalty to the party’s current leadership, expressing full confidence in the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, and the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim.
The women leaders also resolved to intensify grassroots mobilization, particularly among female party members at the ward, local government and state levels, urging them to remain united, steadfast and hopeful despite the ongoing leadership challenge.
“We assure the National Working Committee and the National Executive Council, under the leadership of Barrister Julius Abure and the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, of our continued loyalty and readiness to demonstrate solidarity with the party at all times,” the women stated.
They further called on all members of the Labour Party to remain calm and focused, stressing that the party has endured and overcome difficult moments in the past.
“The Labour Party has survived challenges before and has always emerged stronger,” the statement added.
