2027: Orji Kalu Vows APC Will Unseat Gov. Alex Otti in Abia

Abia North Senator and former governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will wrest power from Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 governorship election.

Addressing supporters at a recent gathering, Kalu dismissed Otti’s re-election chances, insisting the incumbent would serve only one term. He said the APC was fully prepared to take over Abia State and accused the governor of underestimating the state’s political dynamics.

Reacting to a past comment by Governor Otti suggesting that those seeking to replace him should “go and write their wills,” Kalu fired back, saying the governor should do the same, as the APC was poised to reclaim the state.

“The governor is a joker; he doesn’t understand politics,” Kalu said. “He is a banker, and as far as I’m concerned, he is a one-term governor.”

The senator further pledged to lead an aggressive grassroots campaign, vowing to go door-to-door across the state to mobilise voters against the incumbent.

“Abia people will speak with one voice,” Kalu added. “We don’t allow people to rig elections here.”

Governor Alex Otti, elected on the platform of the Labour Party in 2023, has yet to respond publicly to Kalu’s remarks as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.
