Former Plateau State Governor and Senator Jonah Jang has dismissed reports suggesting that he has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to either the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or the Social Democratic Party (SDP), describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his media consultant, Clinton Garuba, Jang said he remains a committed member of the PDP, a party he helped to found.
The former governor described the reports as the handiwork of “mischief-makers” and stressed that he has no intention of leaving the party.
“As a founding member of the PDP, Senator Jonah Jang remains firmly rooted in the party that represents the pride of the Nigerian people,” the statement read.
While acknowledging the internal challenges currently facing the PDP, Jang expressed confidence that the party would overcome its difficulties. He noted that the various court cases arising from the ongoing crises would ultimately restore stability and unity within the party.
“Even though the PDP is going through turbulent times, it is his firm belief that the ongoing legal processes will bring an end to the crises and return the party to the pinnacle of Nigerian politics,” the statement added.
Jang further expressed optimism that the PDP would put its past challenges behind it and reclaim its position as a leading force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
