“After Tinubu, I’m Nigeria’s Most Abused Politician” — Wike Declares in Rivers

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described himself as the most abused politician in Nigeria after President Bola Tinubu.

Wike made the remark on Saturday in Ochigba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, while addressing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders from the council.

The meeting formed part of activities marking an end-of-year thanksgiving service organised by a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, in his hometown.

According to the former Rivers State governor, the persistent criticism against him stems from his insistence on strict adherence to political agreements, especially those meant to protect the interests of his supporters.

“After Tinubu, the next most abused politician today is me,” Wike said. “Why are they abusing me? Because they know that agreement is agreement.

“When we have agreed on something, let’s implement it. If we can’t implement it, don’t even come for it,” he added.

Wike further reaffirmed his political stance, stressing that the decision to support President Tinubu was a collective one and would be sustained.

“For us, long before now, we agreed that we must continue to support Tinubu. That is the position you took, and that is the position we are still going to take,” he said.

His comments come amid ongoing political realignments and debates over loyalty and power-sharing within Nigeria’s political space.
