President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to use the Christmas season as an opportunity to promote peace, love and unity across the country, while encouraging people of other faiths to join Christians in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Akpabio made the appeal in his Christmas message to Nigerians, particularly Christians, as they mark the celebration of Christ’s birth. The message was signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
He described Christmas as a season that embodies love, kindness and generosity, urging citizens to extend compassion and support to the less privileged in society.
According to the Senate President, the life of Jesus Christ remains a timeless example of peace, love and selflessness, values that Nigerians should strive to emulate in their daily lives.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, the Senate and the entire 10th National Assembly, I wish to heartily rejoice with our Christian faithful on this joyful occasion of Christmas,” Akpabio said.
He also called on Nigerians of other faiths to join in the celebration, stressing the importance of mutual respect and tolerance.
“And to our brothers and sisters of other faiths, I invite you to join us in celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ. I urge you all to exude love throughout this period and beyond. Let us tolerate one another and strive to be our brother’s keeper,” he added.
The Senate President further urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the challenges confronting the nation, noting that resilience and unity are essential for national growth and progress.
He prayed for peace, unity and sustained development in Nigeria, while expressing confidence in the country’s direction under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Akpabio concluded by assuring Nigerians that the nation is on the right path and called on citizens to continue supporting the government in the pursuit of a better future for all.
