Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill totaling N901.8 billion, alongside Local Government Budgets of N288 billion, signaling a major push for development across the state.
The approval follows the report of the House Committee on Appropriation, presented by Committee Chairman Hamza Ibrahim Adamu, and emphasizes capital projects, education, and agriculture. The budget, themed “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II”, was originally presented on November 25, 2025, with 77% allocated to capital projects and over 26% dedicated to education, reflecting the state’s development priorities.
Speaker of the House, Aliyu Dangyatim, announced the passage during a plenary session, noting that N693.4 billion is earmarked for capital expenditure to accelerate infrastructure growth. He highlighted that the 2026 budget represents a 19.2% increase over 2025, underscoring the state’s commitment to progress.
Dangyatim commended Governor Umar Namadi for prioritizing innovation and transformation, saying the budget aligns with the state’s long-term vision. He also pledged that the Assembly will continue collaborating with the executive to ensure effective implementation.
