Dutse, Jigawa – The Jigawa State Government has earmarked N2 billion for disaster management and the provision of relief materials across the state in the 2026 fiscal year.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Hannafi Yakubu, Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (JSEMA), shortly after he defended the agency’s budget before the House of Assembly Committee on Special Duties.

Yakubu stated, “Today, we were before the assembly to defend our 2026 budget, and our budget is pegged at N2 billion for the whole year. We are the coordinating agency and collaborate with other agencies during any disaster or emergency – whether it’s floods, fire outbreaks, tanker explosions, or other calamities.”

He added that the agency would review recommendations from the committee to strengthen its operations and improve response times.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that about 25 ministries, departments, and agencies are expected to present and defend their budgets before committees of the Jigawa State House of Assembly between December 3 and 12.
