Atiku to Opposition: “No Time to Waste in the Mission to Rescue Nigeria”

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged members of the opposition coalition to intensify efforts in what he described as a necessary mission to rescue Nigeria from deepening crises.

Atiku made the remark on Monday during a meeting with state chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja. The delegation, comprising party chairmen from the 36 states and the FCT, visited him to congratulate him on his official registration with the party.

Led by Kogi State ADC Chairman, Ogga Temitope Kingsley, the leaders expressed satisfaction that Atiku had become a “bonafide member” of the party — a development the former vice president said he found equally gratifying.

In a follow-up post on Tuesday via his X handle, Atiku emphasised the urgency of the coalition’s work, saying there was “no time to waste” and encouraging other leaders and members to complete their registration with the ADC.

He insisted that full participation was critical to strengthening the coalition, warning that “there can be no sitting on the fence.”

Atiku reiterated the group’s resolve to work toward a secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria, accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of driving the country toward deeper instability.

“I am pleased to see that leaders of the party at the state level are thinking with the future of our country in mind,” he said. “The APC is bent on wrecking our country, and we are ready to stop them from doing so.”

The meeting marks another step in ongoing opposition efforts to form a united front ahead of the 2027 elections.
