APC Postpones Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas’ Reception Over Security Tragedies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the much-anticipated reception for Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, originally slated for today.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party said the decision was taken in honour of members of the armed forces and civilians recently killed by terrorist attacks across the country.

Governor Kefas had earlier revealed his intention to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, prompting preparations for a formal welcome ceremony.

Morka explained that the postponement also reflects the party’s respect for victims of the recent abductions, including the secondary schoolgirls kidnapped in Kebbi State.

“We salute the courage and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, who put their lives on the line in defence of our liberty and security,” he said.

“As we mourn our compatriots, we pray for the safe return of the innocent students forcefully taken by enemies of the state. Our party deeply commiserates with the families affected by these tragic incidents.”

He reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to eliminating insurgency and banditry nationwide and ensuring that the perpetrators face justice.

A new date for the reception will be announced later, the party added.
