Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been released from prison after spending more than three years in custody over allegations of sexual assault.

He regained his freedom on Friday, November 14, 2025, following a decision by the Court of Appeal, which reportedly cleared him of engaging in any sexual act with a minor.

The news of his release was announced by fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi, who shared the update in a post on Instagram on Friday evening. Fabiyi celebrated the court’s verdict, stating that Baba Ijesha had been vindicated.

“You are now officially free and out. Baba Ijesha is not just back but better,” Fabiyi wrote. “I am also happy you were cleared by the Appeal Court of ever having sex or defiling any child or minor. The 7-year-old story is a charade. We live in a terrible world where sentiments and wickedness rise above the rule of law and truth.”

Baba Ijesha had been sentenced to 16 years in prison on July 14, 2022, by the Lagos State High Court after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. The Appeal Court ruling has now overturned the conviction, paving the way for his release.
