“Tinubu Showing No Empathy as Nigerians Are Slaughtered” — PDP’s Dickson Iroegbu Slams Government Over Trump’s Threat

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dickson Iroegbu, has accused the Nigerian government of playing politics with human lives following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent threat of possible military action against Nigeria.

Iroegbu, who spoke during an interview on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST, criticized what he described as the administration’s dismissive response to the alarming rate of killings across the country.

According to him, instead of addressing the growing insecurity, the government has focused on counter-narratives aimed at downplaying reports of targeted attacks.

“Many of us are disappointed with the Nigerian government’s counter-narratives, which claim that Muslims are also being killed in an effort to dispel accusations of Christian genocide,” Iroegbu said. “The crux of the matter is that Nigerians are being slaughtered in alarming numbers, and we cannot shy away from this fact.”

He further accused President Bola Tinubu of showing little compassion in the face of mounting deaths, describing his leadership as indifferent to the pain of ordinary citizens.

“President Tinubu’s actions suggest a lack of empathy for the unwarranted deaths that have befallen the Nigerian people,” he added.

Iroegbu’s remarks come in reaction to a statement by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who said he had directed the Department of Defense to prepare for possible military intervention in Nigeria if the government “continues to allow the killing of Christians.”

Trump had earlier designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over allegations of religiously motivated attacks and the government’s perceived failure to curb them.
