The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has challenged previous administrations to present evidence of having executed more projects in the FCT than President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Speaking on Tuesday during the commissioning of new engineering infrastructure in Wuye District, Wike highlighted a series of achievements under the Tinubu administration, marking the conclusion of over a month of project flag-offs and commissioning across the territory.
The projects include 12 new roads across various districts, Lot 1 of the Light Up Abuja Solar Streetlight initiative, access roads to the Mabushi Bus Terminal, expansion of water supply to satellite towns (Lots 1 and 2), and the construction of 600-bed hostels for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari.
Wike asserted that the record of Tinubu’s administration reflects a leadership committed to improving citizens’ lives and dared anyone to prove otherwise.
“I want to challenge anybody who would say in the history of the FCT, any administration has beaten the record of the Renewed Hope Agenda. If there is, let them speak now or forever remain silent. This shows leadership that is committed to changing lives,” he said.
He also noted that some of the road projects currently being commissioned were awarded as far back as 2009, long before Tinubu assumed office, highlighting the administration’s efforts in “changing the narrative” in the FCT.
“This contract was awarded in 2009. Was Bola Ahmed Tinubu the President then? Was the road completed? We have shamed the opposition and shown that the FCT is working,” Wike added.
In addition, Wike pledged support to Area Council Chairmen contesting elections who back President Tinubu, warning of a forthcoming “political tsunami” in favor of the President.
“For all of you supporting Mr. President, you have my one hundred per cent support. Very soon, there will be a political tsunami. It is Asiwaju all the way,” he said.
