PDP Postpones 103rd NEC Meeting Amid Party Defections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The party announced the postponement on Monday via a statement posted on X by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba. The National Working Committee (NWC) made the decision during an emergency meeting in Abuja.

“Distinguished members of the NEC may recall that the 103rd NEC meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, 15th October, 2025. However, in view of recent developments in the party, the NWC, in exercise of its powers pursuant to Section 29 (2)(b) of the Constitution (as amended in 2017), approved the postponement to a new date that will be communicated to members in due course,” Ologunagba said.

The party urged all NEC members to take note of the change and await further instructions from the national secretariat.

The postponement comes amid a wave of recent defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which has put pressure on the PDP. Despite this, key party figures, including PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, have reassured members that external pressures will not derail the party’s activities.

Mohammed emphasized that neither defections nor external influences will stop the National Convention, scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, between November 15 and 16.
