The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has sounded a warning over Nigeria’s deepening education crisis, cautioning that the nation’s stability is at risk if urgent reforms are not pursued.
In a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, Obi highlighted that more than 24 million Nigerian children are currently out of school, describing the figure as “24 million reasons to fear what lies ahead” if concrete action is not taken.
The former Anambra State governor stressed that no nation can rise beyond the quality of its human capital, noting that education remains the foundation for sustainable development.
He further pointed out that the global rise of Artificial Intelligence is reshaping work and innovation, making education indispensable.
“It is no longer optional; it is essential for daily life. We must equip our young people with the knowledge and skills to compete globally, not just to survive but to lead,” Obi stated.
