Tinubu Misses Abia Visit Over APC Chairman’s Mother’s Burial, Sends Umahi as Representative

President Bola Tinubu was unable to attend his scheduled visit to Abia State on Friday, where he was billed to commission several completed projects by Governor Alex Otti.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, who represented the President, explained that Tinubu’s absence was due to the burial of Nana Lydia Yildawa, mother of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yildawa, taking place on Saturday.

“The President asked me to let you know that he will be with you later this year, sometimes in December,” Umahi said. “He would have been here himself but unfortunately, our National Chairman lost his mother, and it is right that the President is there. That is why he asked me to stand in for him.”

In the address delivered by Umahi, Tinubu commended Governor Otti for the infrastructural strides in Abia, describing his efforts as “recovering the state.”

The commissioned projects include Port Harcourt Road, Ohanku Road, Ajiwe Street, Ndoki Road by East, Peoples Road, Gabriel Nwosu Road, Nkoro Road, Umuatako Road, and Michael Okpara Auditorium.
