The Obidient Movement has called on President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and security agencies to immediately arrest and prosecute the Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Adekunle Mustapha, popularly known as Sego.
The group accused Sego of threatening to kill anyone who votes against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos during the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Tanko Yunusa, the movement condemned Sego’s remarks, describing them as part of APC’s alleged desperate tactics to hold on to power despite lacking popular support in Lagos and across Nigeria.
The statement recalled the widespread violence that marred the 2023 elections in Lagos, particularly against supporters of the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, which resulted in killings and injuries.
“The said Sego, masquerading as a labour union leader, openly threatened to kill anyone who dares to vote against the APC in the next election. This is a continuation of the thuggery, political violence, extortion, and killings that have become synonymous with NURTW operations in Lagos,” Yunusa said.
The group demanded urgent action from Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, the Police, DSS, Military, and other security agencies to bring Sego and his collaborators to justice. It also placed the international community on notice, describing the threats as crimes against humanity and a danger to Nigeria’s democracy.
