President Bola Tinubu on Friday arrived in Lagos on a working visit, shortly after attending the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the President’s visit comes ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, which will be marked with modest celebrations. While in Lagos, Tinubu is expected to hold meetings with senior government officials and key players in the private sector.
The President is also scheduled to inaugurate the remodelled National Theatre in Lagos, which has been renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, as part of activities marking the Independence anniversary.
On Tuesday, September 30, Tinubu will proceed to Imo State to commission a series of projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Speaking earlier in Ibadan at Oba Ladoja’s coronation, Tinubu declared that Nigeria’s economy “has turned around” following the sweeping reforms introduced by his administration over the past two years.
“Today, I am honoured to bring the cheering news that our economy has turned around and there is now light at the end of the tunnel,” he said, stressing that the sacrifices made by Nigerians over the past 28 months were not in vain.
The President attributed the progress to the support, endurance, and sacrifices of citizens, assuring that the benefits of the reforms would soon be felt across the country.
