Human rights activist, Annkio Briggs, has declared that not every resident of Rivers State feels indebted to President Bola Tinubu, despite his intervention in the state’s recent political crisis.
Briggs made the remark on Sunday during an interview on Sunday Politics, a Channels Television programme, while reacting to the suspension of the six-month state of emergency earlier imposed on Rivers State.
When asked if she shared the same level of gratitude expressed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the activist responded:
“Definitely not. I think the president himself will be aware that not everybody in Rivers State will be eternally grateful to him.”
Briggs, who has long been vocal on issues of governance in the Niger Delta, further criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for what she described as its failure to take decisive action in the state’s political impasse.
“As a stakeholder and elder, I feel very let down by the PDP because since 1999 we have voted for the party. I feel that if they had stepped in and done what they should have done right from the beginning, the PDP would not find itself where it is today,” she said.
The activist’s comments add to the growing debate over Tinubu’s role in stabilizing Rivers politics and the PDP’s handling of the crisis.
