Mystery as Decomposing Body Found Inside Car at National Assembly Car Park

ABUJA — Tension gripped the National Assembly Complex on Sunday after the discovery of a man’s lifeless body inside a parked car, prompting the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command to launch a full-scale investigation.

Confirming the incident, FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the body was found inside a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF at about 9 a.m. on September 7.

“The deceased, suspected to be a labourer, was discovered in a lifeless state within the premises of the National Assembly. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), National Assembly Division, immediately mobilized to the scene and confirmed the discovery,” Adeh stated.

She explained that the body was evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel certified it dead and noted it had already reached an advanced stage of decomposition.

The FCT Commissioner of Police has since ordered a discreet probe into the circumstances surrounding the death and directed officers to intensify efforts to establish the man’s identity.
